“Comical goals”, Thierry Henry is furious

The France Espoirs team ended its year with a severe defeat against South Korea this Monday during a friendly in Le Havre (0-3).

The Bleuets’ new defeat does not go away. It particularly annoys Thierry Henry, who regrets the lack of realism and the defensive blunders of his players in Normandy this Monday evening.

A culminating annoyance, since this friendly defeat comes after a setback in Austria, Friday in the Euro 2025 qualifiers (2-0).

After a free kick (70th), Sangbin Jeong scored a double taking advantage of a cross into the area poorly managed by Guillaume Restes (79th). The Toulouse goalkeeper then allowed Yin-sang Hong to add to the score in added time, for a goal that could be described as comical. Which Henry did not fail to do.

“We can’t afford to concede goals like that, the second and third are quite comical. Let the ball pass like that on a cross… Afterwards, no need to foul on the free kick. And the last goal speaks for itself,” thundered the 46-year-old coach.

There is something in football called being realistic. When you create so many chances and you don’t put them away, you give the opposing team the opportunity to punish you (…) The free kick is still beautiful, but the other two goals were avoidable. So. We learn (…) It wasn’t hard to do better than in Austria in terms of combativeness, now the result is horrible. The last two goals we conceded are inexplicable”, the tactician once again mocked the media at the end of the match. There’s still a lot of work…
