The FC Barcelona club confirmed this Monday that their midfielder Gavi was suffering from a serious injury.
It is not only in France that the international break was fatal to quality players. This is also the case in Spain. During the qualifying match for the Euro against Georgia, La Roja saw their midfielder Gavi suffer a significant injury.
Gavi unavailable between 6 and 8 months
Since released for the benefit of his club Barcelona, the former winner of the Kopa trophy is now set on his case. He suffered a rupture of the cruciate ligaments of the knee. It was his club which announced the bad news through a press release on Monday.
The 2023/2024 season of the young Catalan prodigy could be over. This type of injury requires an operation, several months of rehabilitation then a long recovery period. In total, he should have 6 to 8 months away from the field. It would therefore be a real miracle to see him play again for the Blaugrana during the current campaign. A defection which Xavi would certainly have done very well.
Be strong, Gavi ❤️🩹#EveryoneWithGavi pic.twitter.com/H0DiqGyKq2

Barcelona officials have also had a bad time after this “tragedy”. And they are all the more upset since the last match of the Seleccion was without stakes. De La Fuente’s men were already qualified for the continental tournament and assured of finishing first in their group. With a little more intelligence and common sense in management, this loss could probably have been avoided.
