If discussions between PSG and Paris town hall are still at a standstill, the capital club is nevertheless working on a renovation of the Parc des Princes.
Despite its still fresh relations with the Paris town hall, PSG has not abandoned the idea of renovating the Parc des Princes… Indeed, Anne Hidalgo and her teams still wish to sign a long-term lease, while the club Parisian is not considering anything other than a firm sale of the premises located at Porte d’Auteuil. Distensions which do not prevent the Qatari decision-makers from advancing their pawns.
According to information revealed this Sunday by the newspaper The Team, Paris Saint-Germain, helped by the architectural firms Pierre Ferret and Populous, is preparing a large-scale, modern, ambitious and luxurious project to renovate the Parc des Princes. A project which would increase the capacity of the Paris region from 47,500 places to nearly 60,000 – probably around 57,000.
A retractable roof and lawn
But that’s not all, the leaders of the Rouge et Bleu are considering installing a retractable roof and lawn, like the new Santiago-Bernabéu. Initially estimated between 300 and 400 million euros, this facelift of the Parc des Princes could ultimately rise to 1 billion euros, according to certain sources. Work which will only take place in the event of the stadium being sold to PSG.
