According to Catalan media, Manchester United is currently pushing hard to attract Antoine Griezmann during the winter transfer window in January. At 32 years old, “Grizi”, in great form with Atlético, would offer himself an immense challenge at a very high level.
Arriving at the Real Sociedad training center at the age of 14, Antoine Griezmann, now 32, has obviously spent his entire career in Spain, scoring no less than 182 goals in 14 seasons with Real, then Atlético and Barça (with whom he never won La Liga). The French international obviously has a crucial decision to make today: give in to the sirens (or not) of Manchester United, the club of one of his idols (David Beckham).
While “Grizi” has regained an incredible level of play with the training of Diego Simeone (already 12 goals this season), the Spanish press has been talking for several weeks about the player’s astonishing release clause of 25 million euros. This very low amount was negotiated last year when the player definitively returned to the Colchoneros by accepting an annual salary of 11 million euros while he was supposed to pocket 19 at Barça.
Thus, Manchester United would like to recruit the 2018 world champion from next January. Catalan media El Nacional adds another layer: the Red Devils contacted Griezmann’s entourage to offer a salary three times higher than the thirty-year-old. Beyond the astronomical salary he could receive, the 3rd of the 2016 and 2018 Ballon d’Or must ask himself whether it would be wise to join a team in full decline, in which the best player, Bruno Fernandes, plays exactly the same role.
