Sergio Ramos has explained why he refused to sign a Real Madrid shirt after a video surfaced showing him rebuffing a fan’s request.
A video posted on social media shows the veteran defender signing jerseys for supporters. However, when a fan asked him to autograph a Madrid shirt, the 37-year-old rebuffed him, earning him criticism from some.
Ramos spent 16 years in the Madrid shirt and won five La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues, among other trophies, before leaving the club to join Paris Saint-Germain. He then returned to Sevilla, his former team, last summer.
The defender defended his actions after the video was published. He wrote : “Before that moment, I had already signed around 6 (Real Madrid) jerseys. And then there are people who sell them at auction or on the Internet.”
Ramos and his Sevilla team have won just one of their last ten matches in all competitions. They will hope to end this sad streak when they face Real Sociedad in their next La Liga match.
