During his time in the Premier League, Samir Nasri made a lot of talk about him. And not just in a good way. If he signed great performances, embellished with many decisive gestures, he also stood out for a few slip-ups.

Nasri’s uncontrolled slippage

A few years ago, on the set of Canal+, Nasri recounted the day he had a falling out with Roberto Mancini, his coach at Manchester City. But he hadn’t said everything about this encounter. He notably failed to dwell on his exchange with David Platt, the Italian coach’s assistant.

Platt was Mancini’s assistant, but above all he was and is a big name in English football. Over the years, he was among the first to move abroad and succeed in Serie A. And his goal against Belgium at the 1990 World Cup is one of the finest ever scored among the Three Lions in a major tournament.

Details that Nasri didn’t care about. And when Platt sought to intervene to avoid a fight between the French player and his manager, he heard particularly vulgar comments.

It was Joleon Lescott, a former City squad member, who told this anecdote during a podcast with Peter Crouch: “Nasri told Mancini: ‘Get out of there, I’m going to fuck you up, get out of there, you’ll never talk to me like that again.’ The manager came in and said ‘calm down’. And then Platty came and said ‘Samir, calm down’. He (Nasri) then said: ‘You, shut up, you’re just here to suck him off!’ “.
