It’s been in the pipeline for several days, it’s now official. This Wednesday, Union Berlin and Urs Fischer decided to end “from a common agreement” to their collaboration. The German technician is paying the price for the latest poor results from his team, fourth in their group in the Champions League and currently bottom of the Bundesliga with only 6 points collected in 11 days. After gaining a rise in the elite in 2018 before qualifying the “Iron Men” for the first time in their history in C1 at the end of the previous year, the Swiss coach is leaving through the back door.

“I recently made it known that Urs Fischer was an excellent coach and I remain absolutely convinced of that. His personality and fruitful work have characterized our club in recent years. Together, we came to the conclusion that the time had come to take a different path. This is a very sad time, not only for me personally, but also for the entire Union family. Urs Fischer leaves us as a friend whom we will always welcome with open arms”declared Dirk Zingler, the president of the Berlin team in an official press release.
