The former president of Olympique Lyonnais shared his feelings on the club’s uncertain destiny in Ligue 1.

Jean-Michel Aulas, the former president of Olympique Lyonnais, dismissed by the new majority shareholder John Textor, observes from afar the difficulties of his former club, last in Ligue 1. He spoke of this difficult period on the sidelines of the 50 years of the Football Institute (INF) in Clairefontaine.

“It’s a personal tragedy when you have worked for 36 years, played 1,500 or 1,600 first division matches for boys, several hundred for women, 350 European matches for boys and girls… We want to continue like before so I have a hard time with it,” confided Aulas.

The former boss of Les Gones expressed his confidence in the new owners, believing that after this delicate phase, judicious decisions will be made to maintain hope. JMA positions itself neither as a pessimist nor an optimist, but maintains a certain optimism.

“But we have to trust the new owners, and I am convinced that after this somewhat difficult period we will make the right decisions, which allows us to maintain hope. So I am neither pessimistic nor optimistic, but I remain hopeful. »
