Fede Valverde is a Real Madrid captain. The Uruguayan midfielder comes from afar, having arrived at Castilla in 2017 after training at Peñarol. Of modest origin, he was shocked by the luxury and means of some of his new teammates in Spain. In a card for The Players Tribunehe told a funny anecdote dating from his first training.
“Everyone goes to the showers, and I see Gucci boxers. Gucci boxer shorts! I did not even know that it existed ! How much could that cost? (laughs). And all I was thinking was “I hope the ones I wore today don’t have holes in them. I ask God my mom checked when she washed them.” I sat for 20 minutes by myself, pretending I was watching something important on my phone, I wanted to waste time. They started looking at me like “is everything okay? What’s going on?”. I have never felt so small”, explained the Uruguayan. Today, Valverde can afford Gucci boxer shorts in spades!
