Excluded last weekend with AC Milan, Olivier Giroud received a two-match suspension in Serie A.
The sanction fell for Olivier Giroud. The French striker was suspended two matches for his behavior during the meeting between Lecce and AC Milan (2-2) last weekend.
Annoyed by an opponent’s hand not being whistled, the world champion lost his nerve and scolded the referee, which earned him a yellow card, which was subsequently transformed into a red card.
According to the scale implemented in Italy, Giroud risked up to four suspension matches, but the authorities undoubtedly took into account the fact that it was his first red card since his arrival in Milan (he received during his career, each time with Arsenal).
Giroud will therefore miss AC Milan’s next two matches, against Fiorentina and Frosinone. A real blow for the Rossoneri, who remain in four matches without a victory in Serie A.
