Winners of Nantes and Lorient, FC Metz and Clermont did well on the 12th day of Ligue 1 at the bottom of the table.

These two teams had not yet won this season at home, and it is now done for FC Metz and Clermont.

The Lorraines inflicted their third consecutive defeat on FC Nantes (3-1), taking advantage of the generosity of the Canaries’ defense, surprised by the opening score against Kevin Van Den Kerkhof (3rd). Moses Simon had equalized (12th), but the Garnets regained the advantage through Simon Elisor (28th), before killing the suspense in the second half with a counter concluded by Joel Asoro (83rd).

At the same time, Clermont claimed the scalp of Lorient (1-0), on a penalty converted by Shamal Nicholson in the second half (69th). The Merlus, who have not scored in three matches, were never able to react.

In the standings, FC Metz gives itself some breathing room by temporarily climbing to 11th place, leaving Lorient in a play-off position (16th). Clermont, for its part, remains 17th but is getting closer to the flotation zone.
