Mbappé, the PSG locker room is grinding its teeth

Kylian Mbappé’s way of playing would not be to the taste of all his teammates in the Paris Saint-Germain attack. A certain individualism would be criticized.

Although he started the season a little later than everyone else following his sidelining during the summer, Kylian Mbappé quickly caught up. So much so that after twelve days of the championship, the French striker is more than ever a very solid leader in the scorers ranking in Ligue 1 (13 goals), with six units ahead of his first pursuer (Akor Adams, 6 goals). But this success also hides some shortcomings, particularly in collective play. At least according to some.

In an article published this Sunday, The Team spoke about the feelings of the Paris Saint-Germain locker room regarding their flagship striker. And obviously, not everyone applauds with both hands. The media, for example, explained that this week, in the wake of the defeat against AC Milan in the Champions League (2-1), “ discussions on Mbappé’s role, placement and choices » were on the program.

Too personal?

And that’s not all, because among the teammates of the 2018 world champion, some have the “persistent impression (…) that he plays above all for himself“. Mbappé’s performance on Saturday afternoon, on the lawn of Reims (0-3), was a new example of this with practically no good ball offered to Gonçalo Ramos. Perhaps not necessarily helped either by the level of performance of the Portuguese, but also of Randal Kolo Muani when the latter is on the field, Kylian Mbappé in any case raises some teeth within the squad.

In the meantime, and despite the few criticisms that have fallen on him since the start of the season, the player continues to score and save PSG in certain matches, as was the case (with the help of Gianluigi Donnarumma) yesterday against Reims. It is up to his coach, Luis Enrique, to find the recipe for better offensive harmony.
