Silent since September 23 – and even announced Barça’s departure for Saudi Arabia – Robert Lewandowski found the net again by scoring a decisive double against Alavés on Sunday at Montjuïc.
Led from the first minute of play by Deportivo Alavés on a goal from the powerful Samu Omorodion, FC Barcelona took all their time to achieve a ninth victory in 13 La Liga days, Sunday at the Lluis-Companys Olympic Stadium. It was Robert Lewandowski who gave the Blaugranas victory on the heights of Montjuïc by scoring a double.
“Lewy” remained in six matches without scoring (and three missed matches due to injury), since a double against Celta on September 23, and the Catalan press feared the departure of the 35-year-old striker for Saudi Arabia in 2024… His response was resounding, with a superb header from a cross from Jules Koundé (53rd) and a penalty converted after a foul on Ferran Torres (77th).
Barça remains third in the Spanish standings, still four and two points behind Girona and Real Madrid respectively. A date should be noted: FCB receives Girona, the big (Catalan) surprise of the season, on December 10.
