BL: Bayer Leverkusen humiliates Union Berlin and regains the lead

Put under pressure by Bayern Munich winning Heidenheim (4-2), Bayer Leverkusen had to react against Union Berlin to hope to regain the lead in the Bundesliga. A match very quickly taken in hand by Xabi Alonso’s team. Nicely found behind by Florian Wirtz, Alejandro Grimaldo scored with a sublime strike under the crossbar (1-0, 23rd). In the second half, Bayer Leverkusen accelerated.

Odilon Kossounou doubled the lead shortly before the hour mark (2-0, 57th) then Jonathan Tah (3-0, 73rd) allowed his team to take off. Nathan Tella then worsened the score (4-0, 83rd). With this 4-0 victory, Bayer Leverkusen regains the lead in the Bundesliga. Union Berlin slips to last place.
