Karim Benzema could have been managed by one of his former coaches at Real Madrid.
Julen Lopetegui, former Real Madrid coach, is not very keen to sit on the bench of the Saudi club Al-Ittihad. To the great dismay of Karim Benzema, who could have found an old acquaintance in Al-Jeddah.
Lopetegui makes himself desired
Lopetegui was the Saudis’ main target after Nuno’s dismissal this week. However, and if we are to believe information from the daily O Jogo, this prospect does not enchant him too much. He would rather have the ambition to work again in the Premier League. The management of Al-Ittihad does not despair, however, and will still try to convince him.
Lopetegui is free after leaving Wolves before the start of the season in August. His name had, as a reminder, also circulated in Marseille following the departure of Marcelino.
After 13 days of championship, Al Ittihad is only 5e in the general classification. Already beaten three times, Benzema and his teammates are already 11 points behind leader Al-Ittihad.
