While Ousmane Dembélé is not satisfying PSG, Didier Deschamps has once again skipped Moussa Diaby, excellent in the Premier League with Aston Villa. The 24-year-old winger is one of the players who create the most big chances in European championships…
Didier Deschamps was entitled to a question on the absence of Moussa Diaby last Thursday, during the announcement of his group for the last two matches of the France team in the Euro 2024 qualifiers (against Gibraltar and Greece). The Blues boss praised the Aston Villa striker’s performances, but explained that he had a “ list balance » to respect and that he could not “accumulate offensive players”, others having “ a little in advance “.

Diaby, however, has had a better start to the season than Ousmane Dembélé for example, who is terribly ineffective with PSG, between bad choices and lack of success. A hard-hitting winger, the former Leverkusen player, recruited for 50 million euros last summer by the Villans, has not been called up for the last three meetings. He never really shone in 10 matches with the Blues, but did not have enough playing time to stand out.
In the meantime, the PSG-trained player has established himself as the X-factor of his team in the Premier League. His statistics show three goals and three assists, but above all he is one of the players who create the most big chances this season in the major European championships, with seven opportunities created in the Premier League. There is no other French player in the top 20 and Dembélé created five clear chances in Ligue 1 (for three assists).
