This summer, Axel Disasi joined the ranks of Chelsea from AS Monaco for a transfer fee estimated at 45 million euros. A transfer which was concluded in part thanks to his new coach Mauricio Pochettino, who arrived on the Blues bench a month earlier. The 2022 world vice-champion, who had no shortage of suitors ready to welcome him, revealed that the Argentine technician was able to find the right words to convince him to join Stamford Bridge.
“I felt that he was really interested, that he knew me well,” declared the native of Gonesse in an interview with The Team. Things picked up after the call with him and the athletic director. They really wanted me to come. When we started talking, he told me about the match against his PSG at the Parc des Princes, which we won with Monaco and where I played on the right side against Kylian Mbappé. We laughed about it. He told me that he knew me from Reims, that he had followed my season and that he would like me to join him,” Disasi said.
