Journalist Pierre Ménès harshly criticized the Parisians’ performance in the Champions League after the defeat against AC Milan on Tuesday.

Winner of AC Milan (3-0) on October 25 at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain lost on the lawn of Rossoneri this Tuesday evening during the 4th day of the group stage of the Champions League. Direct consequence: the Parisians were relegated to second place in Group F, behind Borussia Dortmund.

“The results are sad, and the situation is a little worrying”

A failure commented bitterly by Pierre Ménès on his Pierrot le Foot site. “As usual, PSG lost away in the Champions League. It is more than an illness, it is an infirmity for this club, which is incapable of responding to the physical commitment. To have possession of the ball, PSG had it! It hums in the middle, it passes through the defenders…”thus judged the former CFC columnist.

“The first half was very good, with Skriniar opening the score, he added. Unfortunately, the equalization happened too quickly. At halftime, the 1-1 was quite logical. But what can we say about this dismal second period for PSG? Particularly on the offensive level. Dembélé, who had been brilliant in the first half, faded away. Kolo Muani was notably absent, just like Mbappé. With PSG’s game leaning to the right with Hakimi and Dembélé, Mbappé touches a ball every ten minutes, it’s complicated for him. There is no help from Lucas Hernandez. (…) This PSG has no creativity in the middle and has no complementarity up front either. I also wonder if confining Mbappé to the left side is not a mistake. »

And to add: “The record is not very good, with 6 points in 4 matches, it is extremely low. Newcastle’s reception should give them 9. We will have to see the result of Dortmund in Milan. And we will certainly have to seek qualification in Dortmund, which hardly encourages optimism. Those who imagined that PSG could win the Champions League this year can immediately forget this fantasy. Getting out of this group wouldn’t be so bad, but it’s not a sure thing either. The results are sad, and the situation is a little worrying. »
