The Red Devils fell in Copenhagen this Wednesday, thus compromising their chances of qualifying for the round of 16 of the C1.
In Group A of the Champions League blithely dominated by Bayern (four victories in as many days), Manchester United had to act as at least first runner-up, if not a tenacious challenger for the Munich residents. After four contested tricks, however, the Red Devils are in great difficulty, dead last in the group.
This Wednesday evening, it was in Copenhagen that Erik ten Hag’s men were surprised (4-3). And this while they were leading 0-2 on the scoreboard after just half an hour of play and a double from Hojlund (3e28e), the man who never scores in the Premier League. The expulsion of Rashford – for a clumsy sole – nevertheless changed everything before the break (42e). Elyounoussi (45e) and Goncalves (45e+9 on penalty) having taken the opportunity to set the record straight straight away.
United cracked
Outnumbered, the Mancuniens regained the advantage with a penalty generously awarded and transformed by Bruno Fernandes (2-3, 69e). Only the Danes did not admit defeat, coming back to score thanks to Lerager (83e) before the winning goal signed Bardghji (4-3, 87e) in an indescribable atmosphere. With this hard-won result, Copenhagen takes second place in Group A with four points on the clock, as many as Galatasaray and one more than Manchester United. The Red Devils, who still have to travel to Istanbul and host Bayern, no longer have the right to make mistakes.
