FC Barcelona icon Gerard Pique has reignited old tensions with Real Madrid, after saying their latest Champions League triumph will be forgotten with time.
Pique gave a scathing assessment of Los Blancos during an interview with RAC1where he was asked about the current state of the La Liga title race, including championship leaders Girona.
” It’s frightening. They’re starting to look like Leicester. It’s a unique project and it’s amazing to see how they play, how they combine. »
He added that he was backing his former teammate Xavi Hernandez to turn things around at Barcelona, but admitted they were the only team he regularly watches today. He doesn’t think much about Real Madrid.
“In February, they will be in great shape, in all competitions, and we will see in the Champions League.
The comparison with the five victories of FC Barcelona in C1 is however unfavorable.
“I always say it, the way we do things and the demands we put on ourselves, when we win, we are remembered forever, when they win, it’s just another victory. The last one, which was a miracle because they were inferior in every round, we will not remember it.”
