Demoted to sixth place in the UEFA index ranking, France could move back in front of the Netherlands by the end of the week.
What will happen over the next three days for the different French teams competing in the various European Cups? One thing is certain, if they want French football to benefit from a better ranking in the UEFA index, they will have to show themselves in their best light. Rather to their advantage since the start of the European season, these teams must continue their momentum because in the event of good results, France could take the opportunity to regain the advantage over the Netherlands.
Having fallen back to sixth place in the famous UEFA index ranking, France hopes to climb back to a precious fifth place, synonymous with an additional place for the group stage of the 2025-2026 edition of the Champions League. The French clubs would then have three direct places and a fourth for the play-offs. Overtaken by the Netherlands, France is not very far behind, with less than a point behind (0.769). And so everything could change this week.
An important Thursday
Several performances will therefore be scrutinized, starting with that of Paris Saint-Germain which travels to AC Milan on Tuesday in the Champions League. At the same time, the Dutch from Feyenoord Rotterdam will come up against the Italians from Lazio Rome. On Wednesday, it is RC Lens who will be entitled to a direct confrontation with a Batavian team since they will go to Eindhoven to meet a PSV with whom they had shared the points in the first leg (1-1).
On Thursday, Toulouse will face mountain Liverpool in the Europa League, Rennes will host Panathinaikos and Marseille will travel to Athens to face AEK. Finally, Lille will play on the pitch of Slovan Bratislava in the Europa Conference League. So many opportunities to look good and shine. France’s place in the UEFA index depends on it.
