FC Barcelona is continuing its efforts to monetize its club as much as possible to ease its financial concerns, and its latest project involves transforming its former soccer field into a diamond mine.
A series of new products were put online on the FC Barcelona store website on Monday morning, including a part of the final goal nets for 79.99 euros, a framed square of the field for 419.99 euros, a Camp necklace Gold Nou for 1,000 euros and a gold Camp Nou pin for 699 euros.
But it is the diamonds that have attracted the most attention. A half-carat diamond was on sale for 2.5 thousand euros, while a single-carat diamond will cost the richest 15,000 euros. FC Barcelona claims that each diamond was produced from the same carbon as the old Camp Nou pitch.

According to Cadena Cope, the carbon from the grass has been extracted and then crystallized using cutting-edge technology that is completely sustainable, with “zero environmental impact”. Each diamond will be accompanied by a certificate from the International Gemmological Institute, guaranteeing that the diamond has been grown in a laboratory and listing the characteristics of the jewel.
Barcelona certainly can’t be blamed for not being inventive with their resources. Supporters also sold various items from the rest of the stadium before it was demolished, including seats and signs, as the Catalans tried to raise as much money as possible. Although the Blaugrana have access to money and credit, projected profits for this season are still low as the Catalans continue to try to cut costs and repay money lost during the pandemic.
