Two weeks after its big victory at the Parc des Princes (3-0), Paris Saint-Germain had to confirm in this group F of the Champions League, with a far from simple trip to the legendary San Siro stadium to meet there iron with a vengeful AC Milan team, determined to take advantage of the electric atmosphere of its enclosure rallied to the anti-Donnarumma cause. And for this second round, this time in Lombardy, PSG fell against the Rossoneri (2-1) despite the opening score of defender Milan Skriniar (9th). Another big disappointment away from home for the Parisians who suffered from a lack of offensive efficiency, symbolized by a too discreet Kylian Mbappé.

The two offensive sidekicks Randal Kolo Muani and Ousmane Dembélé did little better. If the former FC Barcelona player had a few opportunities on his side to pick up the pace by relying on his speed, he very often slipped or lost the ball, as evidenced by his 19 lost balls and the low total of duels won – only two out of nine. The number 10 of PSG often appeared frustrated or even annoyed with a foul committed to his credit. As for RKM, the former Frankfurt striker, warned of a yellow card from his second foul, struggled to make an impact in the Parisian offensive game, touching only eleven balls during the match while losing half. This was too much for coach Luis Enrique who searched in vain for solutions.

Only one hour of play!

In the 60th minute, shortly after Milan’s second goal from Olivier Giroud (50th), Luis Enrique decided to bring out Randal Kolo Muani and Ousmane Dembélé, replaced respectively by Gonçalo Ramos and Kang-in Lee (60th). New blood to revitalize a Parisian attack without inspiration or domination. Unfortunately without any real impact, like all the PSG offensive lines, incapable of converting counter phases or creative sequences: “It was a close match, it could have gone either way. We scored first but after that we couldn’t control the match. It was really tight», Explained Luis Enrique at a press conference.

While Leão shone with Milan, Mbappé struggled to take on his role as offensive leader. An evening without for the Parisian number 7 who suffers the blow: “It’s a second away defeat. He missed a lot of things, we are disappointed we tried to put all the ingredients in, we will try to react against Newcastle at home. We tried to score this second goal, they were the ones who scored it, it was too late” said Kylian Mbappé in the mixed zone after his team’s setback.
