Former French international Emmanuel Petit was pessimistic about Mauricio Pochettino’s chances of relaunching Chelsea.

Former Chelsea player Emmanuel Petit is convinced that Mauricio Pochettino will be able to do nothing to restore a competitive face to the London team.

“At Chelsea, no one has a smile”

Chelsea travel to Tottenham on Monday. There was a time when the Blues were the clear favorites of this derby. That won’t be the case this time. And for Petit, this is not likely to get better in the future.

The 98 world champion told OLBG: “The confidence that Ange Postecoglou has instilled in the players is incredible, especially in midfield. We see that they enjoy playing football, which is very important. It is impossible for every player to always be happy, but you have to work at it. Pochettino tried to achieve that with his team, but I’m not sure there are many players who arrive with a smile on their face.

For Petit, the problem at Chelsea goes beyond the coaching situation: “The Chelsea club is in difficulty and the manager is struggling to implement his vision on the pitch. Compare that to Tottenham. You can see the support from management and players. They have fun and it’s very important to move forward.”
