Pep Guardiola has revealed whether Erling Haaland will be on the pitch for Manchester City’s Champions League match against Young Boys on Tuesday.
The Norwegian scoring machine twisted his ankle and limped off the pitch at half-time in City’s 6-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday in the Premier League. After the match, manager Guardiola said the striker’s condition was not too serious and that he had been substituted as a precaution.
On Monday, the City manager provided an update on Haaland’s health, saying he would consult the team doctor before making a final decision on whether to start the player on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters at the pre-match press conference, the City boss said: “ We’re going to practice this afternoon, so I don’t know. I spoke with the doctor and with him. Yesterday he said he felt a lot better, but I don’t know. Tomorrow I will listen to the doctor. If he says he’s not in pain, I’ll consider letting him play. There are plenty of days to recover (before playing Chelsea on Sunday). For now, if Erling doesn’t play, Julian (Alvarez) will play. »
