On the sidelines of Napoli’s victory on the pitch of Salernitana (2-0), the 11th day of Serie A continued this Saturday with the confrontation between Atalanta Bergamo and Inter Milan. In good shape after a sluggish start to the championship, the Dea planned to follow up with a third victory in a row in front of its home crowd. Undefeated since September 27 in all competitions, Inter Milan intended to consolidate its first place in the standings. At the end of a first quarter lacking in scoring opportunities, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men sent a first shiver through the interior ranks. Receiving a ball poorly repelled by the Lombard defense, Matteo Ruggeri tried his hand at first intention but saw his half-volley narrowly escape the target of Yann Sommer (26th). Jostled, the Nerazzurri were quick to react. On a marvelous pass between the lines from Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Matteo Darmian, who entered the game, pierced the Bergamo defense before being irregularly cut down by Musso. Logically, the Argentine goalkeeper conceded a penalty immediately converted by Hakan Calhanoglu (0-1, 37th).

Upon returning from the locker room, Inter Milan wasted no time in making the break. On a ball scratched at Ederson’s feet by Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Lautaro Martinez was served by the Armenian. Off-center, the Argentinian still managed to find the opposite side of Musso to score his 12th goal of the season (0-2, 57th). Four minutes later, the Dea returned to this meeting. On a low cross from Ademola Lookman, who had just dispossessed Federico Dimarco of the ball following a high press, Gianluca Scamacca victoriously took the lead at the entrance to the area to reduce the score (1 -2.60th). Behind, Simone Inzaghi’s men managed to contain the opposing attacks, reduced to ten against eleven in added time after the expulsion of Rafael Toloi, to offer themselves a third consecutive victory in the championship and take their distance at the top of the Serie A. At the same time, Atalanta recorded its first home defeat of the season and remained stuck in fourth place. The only downside on the Inter Milan side was the injury exit of Benjamin Pavard, who was hit in the knee half an hour into the game.
