Nothing is working out for John Textor. After the incidents ahead of OM-OL, the American president was at Botafogo, in Brazil, to attend the meeting between his other team and Palmeiras. The BFR, which led 3-0, lost 4-3 in this match, enough to provoke its anger and a big slip-up at the end of the match after having accused the refereeing of corruption. In the sights of Brazilian justice after this accusation, the American businessman was suspended.
According to Brazilian media, the owner of Botafogo and OL was suspended for 30 days by the Supreme Court of Sports Justice (STJD). Questioned for his controversial outing, he was notably sanctioned because of his speech towards the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), notably asking for the resignation of the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues. “It’s corruption, it’s theft. Please forgive me, Ednaldo, but you must resign tomorrow morning. That’s what you should do”.
