Fluminense is historic!

Fluminense won the Copa Libertadores final this Saturday at the expense of Boca Juniors de Cavani.

In its lair of the Maracana, the Carioca club made the difference in overtime thanks to John Kennedy (99e) – Advincula in regulation time (72e) had allowed the Buenos Aires club to respond to Cano’s opening score (36e).

Never before had Fluminense won the queen of South American continental cups, confined until then to an unfortunate final in 2008. With Brazil the pride of having won the last five editions of the Copa Libertadores (twice by Flamengo, twice by Palmeiras).

Boca Juniors, who have six wins in the competition, are missing the opportunity to equal Independiente – another club from the Argentine capital – at the top of the South American C1 rankings.
