The look of bad days for Mikel Arteta. Undefeated in the Premier League at the start of the match against Newcastle this Saturday, Arsenal finally lost to the Magpies (1-0). A first setback which provoked the ire of the Spanish coach. Frustrated both in form and substance by this defeat, the former midfielder made a huge rant against the refereeing. The latter surely alludes to the very contentious winning goal which was ultimately awarded to Anthony Gordon.
“The result should not be what it is! It’s a shameprotested Arteta at the microphone of the BBC. It’s embarrassing what happened. How is this goal validated, in the Premier League… this league which is said to be the best in the world. I have lived in this country for 20 years and now I am ashamed. There was one team looking to win the game today, and that was Arsenal. The result is far from being up to the level this league should have and the way this league is played. It’s not good enough here in the Premier League. I feel embarrassed to be a part of this.»
