Deschamps’ rant

Present at the National Assembly on Thursday, the French coach was indignant at the mention of a controversy that occurred just before the 2022 World Cup.

Didier Deschamps was summoned to the National Assembly on Thursday. And this in order to discuss the dysfunctions observed within several sports federations in recent months. The French coach was thus questioned about the numerous controversies which have hit the FFF for several years, first and foremost the one which accompanied the departure of Karim Benzema two days before the Blues’ entry into the World Cup at Qatar.

Shortly before the departure of the Blues for Doha, another controversy affected the French team, that linked to the reluctance of the French players to participate in a clip against homophobia. At the origin of the project, Yoann Lemaire, president of the Foot Ensemble association, had made serious accusations against the French Football Federation, believing that it had backed down after the declarations of Hugo Lloris to justify its refusal to wearing a rainbow armband in Qatar.

This is completely false! You say there were only 3 players. There were three players. Perhaps there are other obligations, other demands and the other players can be invested in other associations, thus launched Didier Deschamps in front of parliamentarians. There is not a player who will tell you “I don’t care about homophobia”. I understand Mr. Lemaire’s interpretation, especially since I too participated, but I could not necessarily participate before each competition. You can’t always please everyone. »
