Inter Miami star, FC Barcelona legend and Argentine god Lionel Messi rarely talks about his own achievements, but he was moved to reveal his favorite goal during a recent interview.
The World Cup winner won his record eighth Ballon d’Or on Monday and when asked if he was the greatest player of all time, he said he didn’t consider himself as such.
This is certainly a debate that will continue for decades. Messi fans in particular may also debate the best goal of his 821 goals, but Messi himself said in an interview with France Football.

“I always say that the most special goals are the most important. To have scored a goal in the Champions League final or the World Cup final is very special.”.
“A goal that I will always remember and that I love very much because of its meaning is the one I scored against Real Madrid when we beat them 0-2 at Santiago Bernabéu in the semi-final of the Champions League . And to tell you one thing, I’ll stick to that one.”
This goal, scored in 2011, allowed FC Barcelona to reach the final of the Champions League for the second time in three years under the direction of Pep Guardiola, a final which allowed him to enter the pantheon of greats football teams.
For many, this goal remains one of those that arouses the most disbelief. It’s difficult to spot defensive errors, especially when he starts his move and seems to squeeze into non-existent spaces, because Messi’s running is simply brilliant.
