It was in the pipeline and it’s now official. Following his altercation with his trainer Michel der Zakarian several days ago, Mamadou announced on his social networks his departure from Montpellier. The French defender who was at the end of his contract at the end of the season decided to slam the door.

Confined to the sidelines since the start of the season, the former Paris Saint-Germain player had a heated altercation during a training session with the MHSC technician.

The French international expressed his choice in a message posted on social networks. “You have to know how to leave the table when RESPECT is no longer served. Following the incident which took place last week at the training center and for which I decline all responsibility, I decided, on this day of 2/11/2023, to end my collaboration with the Montpellier Hérault Sport Club. I spent two years in this family club where I enjoyed sharing my high-level experience with my teammates and my little brothers at the training center.

And to complete: “I would like to thank them at the same time for their unfailing support as well as the medical staff without forgetting the supporters who appreciated my time at the club. Thanks also to the sports director Bruno Carotti for his loyalty to me throughout my Montpellier adventure. Finally, I wanted to particularly thank the president, Laurent Nicollin, who, like his late father did before him, directs the MHSC with the values and principles that are dear to me. We met as Men, we part as Men. Have a good end of the season. »

Arriving at the Montpellier club in the summer of 2021 after signing a three-season contract, the solid French defender played 49 matches under the MHSC tunic for one goal. The now ex-Montpellier player finds himself in a club and will quickly have to find a new base. Towards the end of a stay in Europe? To be continued…
