FC Barcelona suffered a setback last weekend; the first of the season, facing the sworn enemy. A 2-1 defeat at home during the Clasico, at the end of a match where the Barcelonans were not necessarily inferior to their rival Merengue, and they could even have won if they had materialized their great domination of the first period. In the hours that followed, there was a small controversy with İlkay Gündoğan, who ranted against some of his partners, whom he considered too nonchalant.
Above all, this defeat, at a fairly satisfactory start to the season in terms of results, pushed Barça to make a first decision: recruit a midfielder in January. This Thursday, Mundo Deportivo explains to us that behind the scenes, Deco and its teams are particularly active and they already have a great shopping list to strengthen the team in the near future, and not just in the middle. There are thus 7 players followed very closely by the Barcelona management according to the media, while Vitor Roque will arrive in January.
Seven beautiful tracks
A list in which we find Joshua Kimmich, in a somewhat unclear situation at Bayern. The player is very popular with the Catalans, and his contract expires in 2025, which could force the Bavarians to sell him next summer. His compatriot Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen is also on the club’s shelves, but the 20-year-old should be particularly expensive and above all, the competition is tough. Two names already released, which is not the case for the third player on the list, Kaoru Mitoma, the Japanese winger from Brighton. He is followed very closely by the Barcelona staff.
Arthur Vermeeren, Antwerp midfielder, is the fourth player on this list. He would be a fairly affordable alternative to Joshua Kimmich, and the profile of the 18-year-old Belgian midfielder has already seduced the Catalans. For the offensive positions, there are two Spanish internationals: Nico Williams (21), the nugget of Athleticen who ends his contract next June, as well as Dani Olmo, who needs no introduction and who is trained at La Masia. Finally, Estevao Willian alias Messinho, a 16-year-old Palmeiras player, is considered the future Brazilian crack and is unsurprisingly on the shelves of Deco, who knows this market well.
