Mamadou Sakho, it’s over!

While he returned to training after his altercation with Michel Der Zakarian, Mamadou Sakho confirmed his departure from Montpellier on Thursday.

The love story lasted a little over two years. Arriving in the summer of 2021, Mamadou Sakho announced this Thursday that he was ending his adventure with Montpellier. In question, the clash that occurred a few days ago with his trainer. The defender and the MHSC coach came to blows in the locker room after Michel Der Zakarian made a comment which did not please Sakho. Laid off as a precautionary measure, the defender nevertheless returned to (individual) training at the start of the week.

It was not through a long message posted on his social networks that the former French international, now aged thirty-three, announced his departure. “ You have to know how to leave the table when RESPECT is no longer served“, he wrote in the introduction. Then mentioning “ the incident (…) for which (he) declines all responsibility“, Mamadou Sakho confirmed “ end (its) collaboration with Montpellier » this Thursday, November 2.

Nothing for Der Zakarian

Then the traditional thanks were sent to his teammates, supporters and medical staff. The former PSG thanked another ex of the capital club who is now sporting director of the MHSC, Bruno Carotti. And the last thanks went to President Laurent Nicollin. Unsurprisingly, however, there was no mention of Michel Der Zakarian.
