As part of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into dysfunctions within several sports federations, Didier Deschamps was summoned to the National Assembly this Thursday. Thus, the coach of the French team was questioned about the numerous controversies that have hit the FFF in recent years, like the Karim Benzema case or the accusations surrounding the former boss of the French body Noël Le Graët. But that’s not all since the 1998 world champion slammed his fist on the table when discussing a controversy dating from November 2022.
At the time, Yoann Lemaire, president of the Foot Ensemble association, affirmed that the FFF had done everything to slow down the publication of a clip against homophobia following the declarations of Hugo Lloris, the ex-captain of the Blues. “It’s completely false! You say there were only 3 players. There were three players. Perhaps there are other obligations, other demands and the other players can be invested in other associations. There isn’t a player who will tell you “I don’t care about homophobia”. I understand Mr. Lemaire’s interpretation, especially since I too participated, but I could not necessarily participate before each competition. We can’t always please everyone.”said the Basque.
