The reputation of the Marseille city has been tarnished by deplorable images of violence. The big French football family is in shock.
It was a festive evening, but the sad events of the day before were still on everyone’s minds. Monday evening, some influential figures in French football went to the Châtelet theater to attend the France Football Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Among the guests at the gala were a delegation from the French Football Federation including its president Philippe Diallo, as well as the coach of the French team Didier Deschamps and his deputy Guy Stéphan.
“Horrible to have such images”
Relaxed upon his arrival on the red carpet, Philippe Diallo did not hide his dismay when he was questioned about the terrible incidents which injured Fabio Grosso and his deputy around the Vélodrome on Sunday evening. “It’s a scandal, a shame, lamented the leader at the microphone of La Chaîne L’Équipe. We won’t let it happen. I don’t want football to fall prey to these thugs who tarnish our image. We will do everything possible to definitively eradicate this phenomenon which shames our country. »
