Do the winners keep their Ballon d’Or? Will Karim Benzema keep his property?

The Ballon d’Or trophy, in its current form, is currently valued at around 3,000 euros (around $2,920).

However, this estimate only takes into account the raw materials that go into making the masterpiece. The inflated value can reach more than 500,000 euros.

The Ballon d’Or, a gold-plated ball with a pyrite base, measures approximately 31 centimeters high and 23 centimeters in diameter, and weighs just over seven kilos. Ballon d’Or winners receive no direct monetary benefits from France Football, but players have pocketed considerable sums in bonuses, mainly through their contracts with clubs and sponsors.

Finally, Ballon d’Or winners do not receive the trophy itself, but a replica of it, which is generally kept in their respective clubs or placed in museums.
