Held back by Deportivo Alavés last week, Real Betis hosted Osasuna on their home turf for the 11th day of La Liga. Winners of Aris Limassol by a short header in the middle of the week as part of the Europa League, Manuel Pellegrini’s men were counting on returning to the taste of victory in the championship against an Osasuna team which was coming off a 2-0 success against Granada last weekend. In a rather lively first half, the Verdiblancos found the fault before returning to the locker room. On a cross from Isco, William José propelled the ball into the right corner of Sergio Herrera’s goal (45th+1).

If the Spanish-Brazilian striker’s teammates long believed they would win with this short advantage on the scoreboard, it was without counting on the visitors’ burst of pride. In the 86th minute, Ruben Garcia appeared in the Andalusian area and tied the two teams. At the end of the suspense, Isco punished an Osasuna defense that was too apathetic to offer a valuable success to his team (2-1). As a result, Betis climbs to 7th place, remains in contact with the European places and continues with a seventh match without defeat. For its part, Osasuna falls into the second half of the ranking (11th).
