José Mourinho and Romelu Lukaku will make their comeback in Milan this Sunday! But if the Portuguese coach will be received with more clemency by the supporters of the Lombard club, it will not be the same for the former player of the Milan team while the Belgian striker has been at the heart of numerous rumors this summer since his departure from Inter, his second stint with the Nerazzurri. The 30-year-old has finally made a big decision, leaving Chelsea and London for another European capital by joining AS Roma in the form of a paying loan worth 4.8 million euros. A choice which paid off as the solid scorer did not fit into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the Blues and he did not like his new role as a substitute in Lombardy. For their part, the leaders of the Roman club, very active during the last summer transfer window, wanted to find a scorer capable of evolving with Paulo Dybala, not to mention the new recruits with an offensive vocation, under the leadership of the Portuguese coach .

Despite a first match against AC Milan during which he came on at the end of the game while remaining silent for his first minutes with his new team, Romelu Lukaku was then started in all the matches contested by the Romans. Especially since the Belgian striker did not take long to stand out, scoring at least one goal each time, in all competitions, except against Genoa. A regularity which was also praised by his new trainer. “We are very happy to have him here, he is a very important player for us. And then, with the result, we had the opportunity to put it to rest a little, which is important. His physical strength is similar to his mental strength. He has experience and the constant desire to win. He has a positive influence on the team at all levels”, notably confided the Special One concerning him. But the Roman striker will have to confirm this good form during a match during which hell was promised to him by Inter supporters but also by its sporting director, Beppe Marotta.

Hell is promised to him for his return to Milan

A very special welcome will indeed be reserved for two men in the den of the Nerazzurri by their supporters who have not forgotten José Mourinho and Romelu Lukaku, but not for the same reasons. If the Portuguese coach keeps a special place in their hearts, the Belgian striker is on the list of undesirables. “He came back and we trusted him because we believed strongly in his words, but then he made the same mistake. He preached well after the final, saying he was sure we would get back together, then he fled Milan like a thief, without answering his teammates, Lautaro and Dimarco especially, who are also brothers and with with whom he shared more time than with his family. La Curva Nord, however, promises better treatment to José Mourinho who won the treble with the club. Lukaku will get the welcome he deserves, unlike Mourinho who, after 13 years, will still receive the greeting from the North. You reap what you sow”, we can read in the latter’s press release. New proof that the “betrayal” experienced by the supporters coming from their former striker, who negotiated with the two rivals of AC Milan and Juventus even before his departure from Inter, has still not been digested.

Same story for Inter sporting director Beppe Marotta regarding Romelu Lukaku. “He is free to say what he wants but I don’t understand certain things. Did the Istanbul match (the C1 final, editor’s note) influence what happened next? I do not believe. He rejected our offer and after many years, a great relationship of trust had been established towards him. No one has ever disrespected him, I don’t see what could create controversy and we don’t want to get caught. I heard about the initiative for Inter-Roma, it’s a situation that needs to be managed. We have to live the game, that’s where we have to concentrate our strengths. It could distract the players where it is important to encourage them. The supporter can still protest, he is free to do so because he pays the ticket”, said the Italian leader in particular during the Sports Festival. For his part, Simone Inzaghi, the Nerazzurri coach, did not want to add fuel to the fire when he was questioned about the Belgian striker’s return to Milan. However, all signs tell us that the atmosphere will be incandescent at Giuseppe-Meazza this Sunday!
