RC Lens had no trouble defeating FC Nantes (4-0) this Saturday evening in its stronghold of Bollaert.

After two consecutive draws, RC Lens returned to victory this Saturday. The Sang et Or took advantage of the reception of one of the teams in good form in the championship, in this case FC Nantes, to unfold and build up their confidence.

Sotoca mister penalty

Even if the Canaries had not won on northern soil for twenty years, we expected a rather balanced game between these two teams. That wasn’t really the case. Nantes actually only hinted that the score was still zero everywhere. Once their backs were against the wall, Pierre Aristouy’s team was not able to worry their host of the day too much.

The Lensois took the lead in the 27the minute. A penalty was stupidly given to them and it was Florian Sotoca who was responsible for converting it. But not without difficulty, with a shot that lacked confidence. The Lensois captain was much more convincing on his 2e attempt at 71etaking the northern goalkeeper on the wrong foot.

Nantes drowned

Between Sotoca’s two achievements, Facundo Medina also scored. The Argentinian pocket midfielder managed a nice sequence at the entrance to the area, controlled in a pivot and then struck low, which surprised the last Nantes rampart. The latter was not at the end of his troubles. At the 89e minute, he was surprised a fourth time by Neil El-Aynaoui. The Lensois returnee closed the scoring with a close-range shot.

In the end, Lens won quietly 4-0. A result that feels good on an arithmetic level but also on a mental level. The Haise team joins for the 1ste time of the season the first half of the ranking to find itself 9e. Two points and two places behind his opponent of the day.
