Another prosperous week for the French representatives involved in the European Cups.

Toulouse certainly did not achieve the feat at Anfield, the Haut-Garonne club recording a severe defeat in the lair of Liverpool (5-1), and RC Lens had to settle for a draw against PSV (1-1) in a crucial confrontation in the race for fifth place in the UEFA index. But for the rest, French clubs were celebrating this week in the European Cups.

After its slap received on the Newcastle lawn, PSG got back on track by dominating AC Milan (3-0) in the Champions League. In the Europa League, Olympique de Marseille took advantage of the visit of AEK Athens to achieve their first victory in group G and Stade Rennais obtained a valuable success from their trip to Panathinaikos (0-1). Finally in the Europa Conference League, Losc overthrew Bratislava at home (2-1).

Conversely, Dutch clubs have been less successful. If Feyenoord struck a nice blow by dominating Lazio Rome (3-1) in the Champions League, Ajax Amsterdam sank a little deeper into the crisis by losing to Brighton (2-0) in the group of OM and Alkmaar took the water against Brighton (1-4).

These results helped France to move a little closer to the Netherlands, gaining no less than 0.9 points from their competitors for fifth place in the UEFA index. While the gap was 2.769 points at the start of the group stage, it is only 0.769 points after three days.
