Toulouse travels to Liverpool for a gala meeting in the Europa League this Thursday evening. Here is the expected lineup for the Reds.
It’s a match that all Toulouse lovers had checked off at the end of the summer, after the draw for this Europa League group stage. For its big return to the European Cup, Téfécé will indeed cross paths with an ogre of the continent, Liverpool FC. An opponent who obviously serves as the overwhelming favorite for a final victory in the continental tournament.
The Toulouse team’s mission will be all the more delicate as this first confrontation against the Reds will be played in their legendary Anfield den, with an audience renowned for its passion. Any result other than a setback would therefore be considered an authentic feat for Téfécé.
“To be honest, I didn’t think about this match until Sunday, not at all. Toulouse deserves all our respect. It’s a very interesting story, I would say. Winning the FA Cup last year, finding yourself 13th in the Championship. Win the Coupe de France, sorry. (…) Winning the Coupe de France is huge, huge, obviously”explained Jürgen Klopp in a pre-match press conference.
And the German technician should still rely on an extremely competitive starting eleven for this match. Despite a busy schedule, several established LFC stars are expected at kick-off, like the inevitable Mohamed Salah, Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez or converted midfielder defender Trent Alexander-Arnold. Alisson will hold his place in the Reds’ goals.
The expected line-up for Liverpool: Alisson – Tsimikas, Quansah, Matip, Alexander-Arnold – Gravenberch, Endo, Jones – Diaz, Darwin, Salah.
