Nightmare among the Blues!

Number 1 of the French women’s team at the World Cup in Oceania, Pauline Peyraud-Magnin was recently downgraded by Hervé Renard and has just sprained her knee. The sequence is terrible!

Stoppage for Pauline Peyraud-Magnin. Officially relegated as Constance Picaud’s understudy in the hierarchy of goalkeepers of the French women’s team, the one who was number 1 of the Bleues until the quarter-finals of the 2023 World Cup in Oceania (and the elimination on penalties against Australia) leaves the French rally.

Peyraud-Magnin is the victim of a knee sprain (an injury which requires several weeks of rest) and it is the goalkeeper of Montpellier and the French U23s, Marie Petiteau, who was called in for reinforcement on Wednesday. The Blues are playing two shocks against Norway, Friday (in Oslo) and next Tuesday (in Reims), on behalf of the Women’s Nations League (after two successes against Portugal and Austria).

Without the shadow of Peyraud-Magnin for the moment, Picaud, 25 years old, will have the opportunity to justify the new status granted by his national coach, while the PSG goalkeeper is precisely put in competition at club with the experienced Katarzyna Kiedrzynek. The latter started in the return play-off against Manchester United, qualifying after a 3-1 victory.
