Selected twenty-nine times for the French team, Mamadou Sakho is today a Montpellier player. But maybe not for much longer.
Two days after Montpellier’s defeat on the Nantes pitch (2-0, 9th day of Ligue 1), tension suddenly rose between Mamadou Sakho and Michel Der Zakarian. Annoyed by a remark from his coach, the former French international grabbed him by the collar before sending him to the ground, according to information from The Team. The day after this altercation, the defender was fired by his team.
According to the sports daily, an internal investigation was launched to determine what exactly happened between the two men. At the same time, Montpellier HĂ©raut therefore decided to dismiss Mamadou Sakho, as a precautionary measure. The future of the former Liverpool player, however, seems very clouded on the Montpellier side since he should then be summoned for an interview prior to dismissal.

And proof of this layoff with immediate effect, the thirty-three year old player was not present this Wednesday during HĂ©raultais training. After starting his career at Paris Sain-Germain, Mamadou Sakho then wore the jersey of Liverpool and Crystal Palace before arriving in Montpellier in the summer of 2021. He should probably take off for new adventures in the weeks or so. months to come.
