The last meeting of the day in Italy, counting for the 9th day of Serie A, offered one of the finest clashes in transalpine football between two teams currently at the top of the table. Juventus was indeed traveling to AC Milan this Sunday evening. The Rossoneri could also regain first place in the Italian championship from their rival and neighbor Inter in the event of a victory while preparing in the best possible way for their trip to Paris to face PSG next Wednesday in the Champions League. For their part, the Bianconeri had to win so as not to let the leading teams slip away, notably by picking up the three points at San Siro. For this meeting, Stefano Pioli had to start his number 3 Antonio Mirante because of the suspension of Mike Maignan during the match against Genoa before the international break but also the injury to Marco Sportiello. In a very closed first period, Olivier Giroud created the first opportunity by being quicker than Daniele Rugani but Wojciech Szczesny masterfully diverted the French striker’s strike to the ground (14th).

The turning point of the match came shortly before half-time when Malick Thiaw brought down Moise Kean in the position of last defender. The German therefore logically had to leave his teammates numerically inferior for the rest of the game (40th). After this expulsion, Massimiliano Allegri’s players took control of the match and the Italian striker from the Old Lady was very close to catching a fleeing cross from Adrien Rabiot (45th). Returning from the locker room, the Milanese tried everything from the restart but without success. On the other side of the meadow, the Turinese were having difficulty putting their game into place. Shortly after the hour mark, Manuel Locatelli fired a heavy shot which bounced off Rade Krunic before deceiving the Lombard goalkeeper in the absence of Mike Maignan, Antonio Mirante (63rd, 0-1). At the very end of the match, the Italian goalkeeper made several saves against Dusan Vlahovic (86th) and Andrea Cambiaso (90th+2) to maintain a small hope of victory but the referee whistled the end of the match on this small advantage in favor of the Bianconeri. Juventus therefore comes back one point behind AC Milan and two behind Inter.
