José Mourinho was doubly noticed this Sunday. The AS Roma coach was sent off during the match won against Monza (1-0), before paying Papu Gomez at a press conference.

José Mourinho is still a good customer for the media. When he doesn’t answer their questions, the Portuguese coach knows how to do what’s necessary to keep the show on the sidelines. He proved it this Sunday, during AS Rome’s narrow success against Monza (1-0, 9th day of Serie A). Sanctioned with a red card for having provoked the opposing bench, he joined the locker room prematurely. Then he took advantage of the post-match press conference to target a certain Papu Gomez.

During the match, the “Special one” therefore turned towards the Monza bench, making gestures to say that his opponents were talking and complaining too much to the refereeing body. “ I made a few gestures, but I didn’t say anything offensive, did he justify himself after the match at the microphone of SkyItalia. It’s because last season, some talented people, but lacking experience, had bad words about us.

A positive control that gets people talking

As for her release on Papu Gomez, she was not stung by chafers either. Taking up the thread of a statement made last week by the Argentinian, before the latter received a two-year suspension for doping, José Mourinho responded with sarcasm. “ Papu Gomez, I don’t remember seeing him play in the Europa League final. I think, however, that he played against Juventus in the semi-final with a positive test, but that’s not my problem. I have a bit of a cough but I’m refraining from taking syrup or medication, I’m afraid I won’t pass the doping controls.

As a reminder, Papu Gomez tried to justify his positive test by the fact that he had ingested a cough syrup then used to treat his son.
