Argentine attacking midfielder Papu Gomez mocked José Mourinho before his two-year ban for doping. The Special One got his revenge.
Never, ever provoke José Mourinho. The Lusitano technician is a pro at verbal jousting. And his latest victim is part of the Argentine national team.
Last week, the Argentinian world champion shed first blood. “ Mourinho? I only have one memory of him, and that is winning the Europa League with Sevilla against him (editor’s note, during the 2022-2023 season, the Sevillians won on penalties in the final against AS Roma)“, he joked.
“ Papu Gomez, I don’t remember seeing him play in the Europa League final (editor’s note, the Argentinian had in fact remained on the bench). However, I think he played against Juventus in the semi-final with a positive test. Papu Gomez’s anti-doping test was carried out in October 2022 when he was still under contract with Sevilla, shortly before the Qatari World Cup won with a victory in the final against the Blues.
