At the opening of the 9th day of Serie A, Napoli, reigning champion, traveled to the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi to face Hellas Verona. Fifth at kick-off, Rudi Garcia’s men, contested but still in position, could get closer to the podium in the event of a victory and thus definitively forget the defeat against Fiorentina just before the break. Opposite, the Gialloblu hoped to put an end to a very negative spiral (4 defeats, 2 draws in the last 6 matches) to climb into the top 10. Quickly, the locals made their mark for the first time on Meret’s goal but Dawidowicz stumbled on the last rampart of the Partenopei (2nd). Under pressure, Napoli showed efficiency and opened the scoring through Matteo Politano, served by Giacomo Raspadori (0-1, 27th).

Just before the break, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia even made the break with her left foot on a serve from… Politano (0-2, 43rd). Dominant, the visitors took off after returning from the locker room. Brilliant in the first 45 minutes, Politano stood out again by launching Kvaratskhelia with a touch. Alone against Giangiacomo Magnani, the Georgian did not tremble to score a double (0-3, 55th). If Darko Lazovic allowed his team to reduce the score in stride (1-3, 60th), Napoli retained their advantage and logically won. In the standings, Rudi Garcia’s men remain 5th but have 17 points, as many as Juve (3rd). The Verona club remains stuck in 16th place.
