Injured and absent from the field for more than a year, Marie-Antoinette Katoto returned to competition last September but this Saturday, she scored her first goal since July 2022.

It’s done ! The (very) long period of scarcity is over for Marie-Antoinette Katoto. Victim of a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee on February 14, 2022, while she was playing in the Euro with France, the attacker had been kept away from the field for very long months. Returning to competition on September 17, the French international gradually regained playing time as well as sensations. And her long-term work finally paid off as she found the net again this Saturday.

During her Paris Saint-Germain team’s trip to Lille, the player scored in the twelfth minute of the first period. An event for her since it is her very first goal since July 1, 2022 (during a friendly between the France team and Vietnam won 7-0), or exactly one year, three months and seven days. A moment which was inevitably celebrated on the northern pitch by the Frenchwoman and her partners who came to surround her to congratulate her.

Long-awaited click?

With Paris, Marie-Antoinette Katoto’s last achievement dates back even longer since it was May 15, 2022, again on the occasion of a card this time against Yzeure, in the Coupe de France final ( 8-0). This first goal scored in so long should open the way for a host of other pawns. In any case, this is what Katoto hopes, surely as much as Paris Saint-Germain and the French team. The French coach, who chose not to retain her for the October rally, is perhaps already regretting his choice.
