An ultra-realistic Nice dominates OM in the derby

The Mediterranean derby ended with a success for Nice against OM. Guessand scored the winning goal after a free kick (1-0).

Many OGC Nice supporters took their seats this Saturday at the Allianz Riviera for their team’s match against Marseille. During three quarters of the game, they were very bored but their team ended up winning (1-0).

Balerdi weighed down OM

Ten minutes from time, the returning Evann Guessand delivered the locals by placing an unstoppable helmet strike following a free kick. A set piece following a foul by Leonardo Balerdi, who received a second yellow on the action. A double punishment from which OM could hardly recover.

For Marseille, the end result is clearly frustrating. Because if they were not flamboyant in the game, the Olympians were able to be solid at the back, conceding only one opportunity before this opening score. That of Terem Moffi just before half-time.

Up front, Gattuso’s team also twice had the opportunity to take the lead. First on a header from Amine Harit (62e), repelled by Marcin Bulka, then following a dive from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang which failed on the outside of the post (73e). And to these two possibilities are also added a big miss from Iliman Ndiaye in the 89the to bring the two teams back to par.

Gattuso may be frustrated

The Italian coach of the Marseille team had difficulty digesting this scenario. He has already lost his second derby after his arrival in France and he may think that the result would have been different if the referee had let him make a tactical change just before the Nice goal.

By losing this Saturday, Marseille remains stuck at a somewhat glorious 7e place in the ranking. It was not the best way to start a very tough match program. Nice, for its part, recovers 1e place in the ranking. With its cold realism, the Gym continues to defy the predictions and also remains the only team still undefeated this season in Ligue 1.
